Our Orthodontics Solutions Can Help Adults Improve Their Bite and Smile

OrthodonticsOrthodontics is for more than just children; they can help adults, as well. We treat patients of all ages and have found that a majority of adults think they do not qualify for orthodontics care. This is often due to an appointment they had as a child where they were told that their case was complicated or that it would take years to straighten their teeth. If you fall into this category and visited an orthodontist when all phones were tied to cords, it is time to schedule another consultation. Technology has changed significantly in the past couple of decades. Braces are smaller than they used to be and more effective, which means that you can straighten your teeth in less time without looking like you have a mouth full of metal. In fact, a few treatments can be completed in as little as six months, and some adults qualify to use clear aligners for a nearly invisible treatment. The options are vast, and each treatment plan is customized for our patients’ needs, so the best course of action is to schedule a consultation.

Orthodontics can be used even if you are missing a few teeth.

Adult tooth loss is so common that many adults will lose at least one tooth during their lifetime. This can be due to decay, poor oral hygiene, an infection, or an accident. While perfectly normal, it does not preclude you from having an orthodontics treatment. It simply means that there will be additional steps in your care. For example, if you have lost a tooth, the other teeth may have moved and crowded out the space it used to occupy. Before the tooth can be replaced, room will need to be created for it. This can be done using orthodontics, and as part of your treatment plan, we will let you know when to schedule a procedure for your tooth to be replaced. This is sometimes done midway through the procedure or at the end, but in any case, we will let you know what to expect when you come in.

Aligning your bite is possible with orthodontics.

Regardless of whether you have a severe overbite, underbite, or crossbite, we can help. A misaligned bite can severely alter your appearance. It can change your facial structure and make it difficult to eat without discomfort. It can also place undue wear on your teeth and cause jaw and face pain. We can correct this using clear aligners if the misalignment is minor to average. If it is severe, your best option may be to wear traditional metal braces and bands. In some cases, oral surgery is also necessary though this is rare. We will go over all of your options and let you know what to expect when you visit our office.

We can help you to love your smile again. Call our office to learn more about the various treatment solutions we offer and how they can be used to improve your appearance.
